I had no problem setting my laptop (which has Windows XP) up for home networking so I could be able to use the internet connection from my desktop.
I'm trying to help my cousin to set up his laptop for home networking, but he has Windows 2000 on his laptop. He said there is no ';Network Setup Wizard'; category in the Control Panel. So where should he go in the Control Panel to set the laptop up for networking? How do you set up your laptop for home networking in Windows 2000?
When the laptop is up and running, go to the Control Panel and look and see if you have Network and Dial-Up Connections in the list. If it is not there, then the operating system was not completely installed in that laptop. If it is there, then you need to run the wizard to find the network connection on the laptop. If it has an ethernet connection, search for it, if it has a wireless connection search for it, if neither are present, then you need to install the hardware on the laptop, run the wizard and then restart the laptop, or just do a search for the hardware on the pc and load the drivers for it.How do you set up your laptop for home networking in Windows 2000?
I hope this helps
