Networking?

Hi I currently have two computers that use the same internet connection over a router, i would like to know if i could set up a network between the two so i may view files from computer on the other computer without transfering files between computers. The biggest problem i have been running into with this, is that one of my computers runs windows vista and the other runs windows xp, i cant change the older computer to run vista because it probably does not have enough ram or processor speed to do so. So if anyone could please tell me how i maybe able to set up a connection i would appreciate it Thank youNetworking?
It is no problem to set up a network between the two - neither computer cares what the other is running (disk file format is the same so they will be able to share files) - only issues will be 'creating the network' -use XP machine first and then have vista join it, %26amp; doublecheck the firewall settings on both to insure that you grant access to the two machines to each otherNetworking?
You have both networked already, since they both have internet over the router. My site below under Network Talk, Building the Network will walk you through the remaining steps you need to take to use file and print sharing between them. Hope this helps
