How would a search engine, social networking sites and E-mail services do if an earthquake hit the Bay Area?

I figured if that happened then all web traffic would be rerouted to other Severs all over the world if a quake hit the Bay Area today. Since search engine, social networking sites and E-mail services US bureaus are in the Bay area and web traffic must pass San Jose areaHow would a search engine, social networking sites and E-mail services do if an earthquake hit the Bay Area?
We had an earthquake just last week. No change in service. If you are talking about a devastating earthquake, you would have to be more specific about which search engine in particular. Bing is probably based out of Seattle, WA, as an example.
