ThanksNetworking?
A simple explanation for how it all connects?
No.
If there was, you wouldn't be looking to networking as your profession...
Start with a good old' comp-tia Net+ cert. You should be able to bang your way to a cert in about three weekends of dedicated study..
Then Get the Linux+ cert, then go get a job so you can learn how it all REALLY works.
This isn't Chinese Algebra, but it isn't plug and play either.
What you need to learn how to do, is map a new network to the clients specs, then implement it. If that sounds vague, it's because every network is different.
No book out there that can give you the ';Perfect Setup';. Many many many books out there that can teach you how to design the perfect setup for your needs....
All the college in the world won't save you from your first real job.
Welcome aboard the S.S. ';Why do I keep getting Spam in my inbox?';Networking?
I totally agree with fidodido, the best thing for you to do is take a CCNA course to learn more about servers and how they work, instead of just one or two methods of using them.
I'm actually taking my first entry level of CCNA with Cisco right now so I can understand a little bit more about wireless and LAN, so maybe this could be an option for you. It's not that hard, and you can ask a bunch of questions about servers on the forums. Good luck!

Do MCSE (Microsoft certifies systems engineer) starting from MCP (Microsoft certified professionals).\

You can opt for courses which prepare you for exams like CCNA. This will help you in learning all the basics about networking.
