How do you set up home networking when on PC is wired and one PC is wireless?

Both of my computers are desktops running Windows Vista. One is connected to the Internet through an Ethernet cable, and the other one is connected wirelessly. I need to enable file sharing between them, but I can't figure out how to get them on the same network.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.How do you set up home networking when on PC is wired and one PC is wireless?
The easiest way is to plug each end of the Ethernet cable into each of the 2 computers. Then copy the files you want to share to the Public folder located in ';Documents'; (If you don't see the ';Documents'; icon on the desktop, copy it from the Start Menu)

Make sure file sharing is turned on, you can check like this:

- 1. Right click on the taskbar Network system tray icon. (lower-right, next to the time).

- 2. Click on Network and Sharing Center.

- 3. Click on the down arrow to the right of File sharing to expand it. Select (dot) ';Turn on file sharing';.

- 4. Click ';Apply';, and If prompted click ';Continue'; at the UAC prompt.

Now, everything in the Public folder will be visible on both PCs! :D

OPTION #2

Plug a wireless adapter into the ';wired'; desktop, than Set up a wireless ad-hoc network. There's a detailed guide here: http://www.home-network-help.com/ad-hoc-鈥?/a>

If you don't have an extra wireless adapter (PCI or USB will work on a desktop) then you'll have to get one.

Hope that helps!

P.S. If you've already tried both of these methods, and nothing's working, please edit your question to explain.
