How much Math do I get if I take on IT Major in Networking?
I just graduated from high school and according to my Diagnostic tests my english and science are excellent but my math is poor. lol. And I would really like to become a Network Administrator that's why I'm taking up IT Major in Networking but I'm worried that I might flunk it. So will I survive it?

That's really a tough question to answer. We do know that these devices consume quite a bit of energy. The average router or switch will pull about 120-240W, depending on how many ports are used, and remember these are devices that are constantly powered on! Plus on top of what the actual networking devices consume, you have to look at how much energy is used to air condition all the network rooms in the world. Here's a good link about some of this:

How can I get a virtual networking adapter so I can connect to my router and my other computer?
I have 1 wireless card. I want to make a 2nd virtual one. I want to be able to connect to both my router with internet and my other computer. My other computer can't connect to my router wirelessly and I a not doing it wired.

I'm not sure what your getting at? You should be able to connect all your computers wired or wireless to the same network as long as you have a wifi router. Then you would have access to your router and computers at all times. If you don't have a wifi router then I suppose you could get a usb wifi adapter and use your desktop as a gateway. If your wanting to have remote access to your desktop check out vnc or logmein.com both are free to use.

Both of my computers are desktops running Windows Vista. One is connected to the Internet through an Ethernet cable, and the other one is connected wirelessly. I need to enable file sharing between them, but I can't figure out how to get them on the same network.

Well first off you need a disc that contains your operating system. Next you have to decide what personal items you want to back up and try to access it through safe mode or any other means to backup these items to disc or flash drive or external hard drive or whatever other means necessary. Then insert your operating system disc and reboot the computer. Before the operating system loads you need to press F12 (I think thats what it is) or it may say press any key to boot from CD and make sure you do that. Then follow the prompts to delete your current parition and reinstall the operating system. By doing this you completely reset your hard drive and you should be good to go with a fresh start. Your problem sounds like backing up might be an issue. Very sorry, perhaps it could read a flash drive or other removable media, but remember,then the virus might travel so be careful. Join the party of your choice if it will help--either as a Young Republican/Democrat, et al or as a member of that party's main group.
Call party HQ and see if they can use your help come Election Day...many need help with people as runners, etc.
Look into local community service groups like Kiwanis, Lions, Rotary if you are over 18, or Circle K (in a college), KEY Club in a High school, etc.
Be willing to do community service, and do it without mentioning you are looking for a job...do it because you want to help other people...
Be willing to write this same letter to leaders of the community, but doing it in a way that says you want to help, and you want to advance your career...and ask them what kind of advice, not what kind of job, they can give you...
The key to networking is DO NOT BE AFRAID TO NETWORK...TELL PEOPLE YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS OR THAT, IN THEM, OR WHATEVER, the best training is doing it...and knowing, if you are doing the right thing, and believing in a spiritual power, the spiritual power will guide you into the right door.

There is a place in the network router setup where it asks if you want to use a WEP password to protect the access to your network. Just say yes and put in a password so bizarre that only you will remember it. Then access by others should not worry you. As an alternative you could put in ';Use MAC filtering'; which requires you to list the MAC address on your computer's network card so that only a computer with that card address can get into the network. If you are extra worried then use both techniques.

This merely a starting point and it will require time and manual labor to get through this. There really isn't a single quick fix solution as you are competing against other social communities.

How can i fix my networking card?
I have a MSI mainboard mobo (P6NGM Series) and until a few hours ago it worked very well. You see I reformatted my harddrive and I guess I somehow lost the driver for my networking card but I don't know where to go to retrieve one. When I plug ethernet cables into my mobo the light comes on but I'm not connected to any networks. This is a major headache so any help would be greatly appreciated!How can i fix my networking card?

How to handle networking when finding a job?
Before I left my job, I gave a number of my coworkers who I liked and enjoyed working with my contact information. I asked some of them (not all) to let me know of any jobs they might hear of that I might be qualified for in or outside of the company. I have told other friends and acquaintances that I'm looking for work and to keep an eye out for me. I feel this networking that I've done so far is on track.

I don't think you need to bluntly let people know you are unemployed. Have you tried informational interviewing? Who do you know? Some of my students have reported much success with this lately, and it's an excellent way of networking. In an informational interview, you are interviewing someone who has a job that you would like to have. Find out how you can get where s/he is. Taking the initiative to request an interview shows that you have ingenuity and ambition, and will make you memorable to people in your field. These interviews may occur over the phone or in person depending on the preference, geographic location, and time availability of those involved. This can be the perfect way to introduce yourself without being phony (like at networking events), and shows that you are sincere about getting information to help you move on and up.
Where can you find people? If you graduated from a college or university, contact their career services center. It doesn't matter if it was 6 months or 30 years ago, they offer services to alumni (and sometimes community members). Professional organizations in your field. Consider using the National Trade and Professional Association Handbook to get started. If you're an engineer, for example, you'd contact the National Society of Professional Engineers and see who you can speak to about your job search.

I don't think there are any age requirements to take the exams, the youngest I know that got certified was 14 but he started at about 10 and his father is a CCNE so had a lot of experience before he picked up a book. If you plan to go this route I suggest taking a couple classes at your nearest community college before taking the exams. There's only so much you can learn from a book and usually by the time those books are printed some of the information is outdated.

I don't think there are any age requirements to take the exams, the youngest I know that got certified was 14 but he started at about 10 and his father is a CCNE so had a lot of experience before he picked up a book. If you plan to go this route I suggest taking a couple classes at your nearest community college before taking the exams. There's only so much you can learn from a book and usually by the time those books are printed some of the information is outdated.

Im interested in going back to school for Computer Networking and get certified in A+, CCNA, etc. and want to know how the job market looks for someone having this background. Hi everyone, I have been thinking about this long and hard and I have decided I would like to create a Social Networking Site, but I don't know where to start. I have the code and the files, but I don't know how to apply them and get the website to work. If anyone knows how, I would love to make this site a partnership and we will manage the site 50/50. What should I be looking for in buying a new computer, possibly networking with my older one?
I used to be pretty good with computers, knowing what what and such, but I've finding myself a bit overwhelmed at the moment. I have a 5 year old HP computer, that when I bought it was top of the line and has done me proud. But I鈥檝e been entertaining the idea of getting a second computer for a while now. Possibly a Dell. You will want a Duo Core processor, lots of memory, at least 2 gigs for Vista. Also, for networking get a router, wireless or wired (wired is faster, but less convenient, If you try to connect both without the router, one will knock the other off when it connects. Good Luck!
